Free Craft Tip from Craft-Stop: Brush Substitute
When spreading glue or paint, use a strip of cardboard instead of a brush. The cardboard won’t soak up the paint or glue like a brush does and can be discarded when finished. You won’t have to spend time cleaning your brushes, and you won’t have to purchase a large assortment of brushes for all your needs.

Free Craft Tip from Craft Stop: How to Secure Thread in Needlework Projects
The most common way is to hold the thread under the first four or five stitches. Another way is with a waste knot. Thread the needle and knot the end of the thread. Insert the needle from the right side of the fabric, about 4 inches away from the first stitch. Bring the needle up through the fabric, and work the first series of stitches, when finished, clip the knot on the right side. Rethread the needle with the excess floss and push the needle through to the stitches on the wrong side of fabric.
