When decorating straw wreaths, cut 4-inch strips of yellow net (tulle) and wrap them around the wreath. The net will not be very noticeable and will prevent the wreath from shedding.

For smooth, round edges, “sand” the foam with another piece of Styrofoam. For large pieces, cut first and then sand to the final shape.

To take the kinks out of yarn which you have unraveled, wrap it, without stretching it, around a styrofoam ball and immerse it in water. Drain the ball of yarn, blot it with a towel, and set aside to dry. When the yarn is removed, it is straight.

When children’s clothes have stains or holes, buy print fabrics with cars, hearts, etc, and fuse them onto clothes to hide flaws. Then you can use fabric paints or fabric glitter to seal the edges or embellish the design.

Recycle your brown-paper grocery bags using cut-outs from cards, stickers, ribbon, and stencils. Cover the writing on the bags by cutting and gluing sides of bags without any print. Make two holes on the sides of the bags and add ribbon for handles. Glue pictures from the cards, or use stickers, or paint stencils on the bags. Child’s birthday party idea: have them decorate their bags to take home their goodies!

Instead of keeping paper towels near you when working on your craft projects, keep a tissue cube handy filled with a toilet tissue roll. Cut off the cellophane and carefully loosen the side where it’s glued. Insert a regular-sized roll of toilet tissue into the cube, pull the center cardboard out of the roll, and it makes a tissue pull-up from the inner circle. (Don’t forget to reglue the edge of the cube.)
