Welcome to Craft-Stop

The James L Maher Center, located in Newport, RI is an organization that has supported persons with developmental disabilities for more than 50 years. We operate a number of educational, habilitative, vocational and residential programs designed to maximize the abilities of those we support and enhance their lives; we presently assist approximately 500 adults and children. Our vocational programs are anchored by Maher Industries.

Maher Industries is a collection of small businesses we have established to generate income to help off set the cost of our habilitative and residential programs and at the same time provide real jobs for people we support. Some of our businesses include: a garden center, an industrial laundry, and sub contract work of all kinds, catering, industrial custodial services, landscaping, and our newest acquisition, Craft-Stop.

We have an excellent, well trained, and dedicated work force. We are confident you will be pleased with our products and service.
